Thousands of years of history within sight of the Alps

The oldest evidence of the inhabitants of Rhaetia can be found at Grosio, where rock carvings have been discovered that date back to between the 3rd and 2nd millennium B.C.
Over the centuries, the area was subject to strong Roman, Christian and Germanic influences until the merger of the Valtellina with Graubünden (1500 to 1815).
Their political paths then split: but the Rezia continues to live its own story, based on trade and a strong tradition of tourism.
